In Khelo India National Winter Games, it is estimated that over 2,000 athletes from across the country will be travelling to Gulmarg to compete in different sports. It was announced on Sunday that the Ski resort of the Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district in Gulmarg will be the venue and the hosts of the Winter Games next month. February is going to witness the third edition of the games very soon.
The start date of the event will be 10 February and the event will come to an end on 14th February. said the officials and the hosts.
The athletes will come to Gulmarg to compete in the different sports and share their skills and experience with the country. Some of the leading sports that are anticipated to be included in the Winter Games are as follows:
- Ice Hockey
- Skiing
- Snowshoe Race
- Ice Skating
- Ski Mountaineering
- Snow Boarding
- Nordic Ski
- Ice Stock
Sarmad Hafeez, who is the secretary tourism, became the chairman of a meeting on Saturday at Gulmarg to share information about the preparations of the event and ensure that the tourism industry was also prepared for the welcoming of the athletes.
Hafeez added that the third edition of the Winter Games will not only promote the idea and importance of Sports activities in Jammu and Kashmir but shall also assist in attracting tourists from across the globe. It shall show a reflection of the pleasant and healthy environment in the state and the fact that it is safe to travel to this part of the country. It shall also showcase the beauty of the state.
In order to ensure the safe completion of the event, the secretary has requested the participation of the government and the private agencies to give their undying support to the cause.
