This has to be the wildest friendly match or a fever-dream. FIFA club World Cup has actually hosted a match between Argentine powerhouse, River Plate and a Japanese juggernaut, Urawa Reds Diamonds.

Although River Plate were the clear favourites, the Japan team was by no means a pushover.
1st half
The match started with chaos and end to end football but after a bit River plate gained control of the ball in the midfield and conducted their football. It was still scrappy in the end but River Plate were getting some chances.
The extended possession resulted in the 1st goal in the 12th minute, when Colidio headed in the goal from a beautiful pin-point cross into the box.

After the goal, there was a phase when Urawa Reds gained some momentum and looked like they would get the equaliser but the River defence was resolute as they did not allow any trespassing of any kind.
2nd half
The second half was more eventful as in the start of the 2nd half, River plate scored their 2nd goal as Driussi pounced on a mistake by Urawa Reds defence but was injured while scoring the goal.
In the 58th minute, Urawa received a penalty which was converted by Y Matsuo to set up a platform for the comeback.
It looked like the game was on from now but in the 73rd minute, Meza scored from a header from a corner and killed the game, leaving no doubts in any minds.

The game ended 3-1 and River Plate won their first match of the FIFA Club World Cup against the Urawa Reds Diamonds.
