On Monday, September 1, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed the prize money for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 – and it’s bigger than ever.
A Four-Fold Boost in Prize Money
The 2025 edition will see a record-breaking increase in prize money, with the ICC raising the total pool by a massive 297 percent compared to the previous tournament.
The tournament kicks off on September 30 with India taking on Sri Lanka in the opener, and the grand finale will be played on November 2. India and Sri Lanka are co-hosting the event, with matches scheduled at:
- ACA Stadium, Guwahati
- Holkar Stadium, Indore
- ACA-VDCA Stadium, Visakhapatnam
- R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka
- DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai
Originally, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was supposed to host matches, but the games have now been shifted to DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 – Total Prize Money: $13.88 Million
The overall prize money for the World Cup 2025 is set at $13.88 million, a dramatic leap from the $3.5 million awarded in the 2022 edition in New Zealand. Interestingly, this amount surpasses the $10 million prize pool of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, marking a bold step toward pay parity and the growth of women’s cricket.
ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 – What the Winners and Other Teams Will Earn
The champions of the World Cup 2025 will take home $4.48 million, up from the $1.32 million that Australia earned last time – a 239 percent jump.
- Runners-up: $2.24 million (up from $600,000)
- Semi-finalists: $1.12 million (up from $300,000)
- Fifth and sixth place: $700,000 each
- Seventh and eighth place: $280,000 each
- Every team in the group stage: $250,000 guaranteed
- Each group-stage win: $34,314

In a statement, ICC Chairman Jay Shah called the announcement a major step forward for women’s cricket.

“This four-fold increase in prize money is a landmark moment for women’s cricket and reflects our clear commitment to its long-term growth. Our message is simple, women cricketers must know they will be treated on par with men if they choose this sport professionally.”
