Nashra Sandhu produced a magical spell, picking up 6 wickets for 26 runs, to help Pakistan secure a six-wicket consolation victory over South Africa. Despite the win, South Africa took the three-match series 2-1.

First Innings: Nashra Sandhu Spins Web Around South Africa

Having decided to bat first, South Africa got off to a quick start with Laura Wolvaardt and Karabo Meso adding 38 runs in 6.4 overs.

Wolvaardt was forceful in the initial stages, hitting boundaries against Fatima Sana as well as Diana Baig.

There was a scare when Sana was hit on the shin and had to retire briefly from the field.

But then came Nashra Sandhu and upset the applecart. The left-arm spinner removed Sune Luus in her second ball, for 10.

South Africa’s middle order folded soon enough, under the pressure of the sharp turn available.

Sandhu’s Wicket Count:

Sune Luus – bowled

Miane Smit – bowled

Sinalo Jafta – lbw

Anneke Bosch – caught by Sidra Amin

Chloe Tryon – bowled by a sharply turning ball

Nadine de Klerk – lbw

Her last figures of 6/26 from 9 overs now stand as the second-best ODI bowling figures by a Pakistani woman cricketer.

Aroob Shah and Omaima Sohail’s support

Syeda Aroob Shah mopped up the South African tail, removing Ayabonga Khaka and Nonkululeko Mlaba in rapid succession.

Omaima Sohail also helped out by taking Meso with a quick return catch. South Africa was dismissed for 115 in 25.5 overs.

Second Innings: Sidra Amin Rocks Pakistan’s Chase

Chasing 116, Pakistan made a nervous beginning, losing Omaima Sohail for a golden duck to Mlaba.

But Sidra Amin and Muneeba Ali reeled off a vital 65-run partnership to shore up the innings.

Even as there was a mini-collapse when Muneeba (27) and Fatima Sana were dismissed off the same Nadine de Klerk over, Sidra Amin remained steadfast.

Sidra Amin’s Performance:

Completed unbeaten on 50

Hit boundaries regularly

Scored winning runs off Luus

Completed the series with 293 runs in 3 innings, including two centuries
