IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals get Ben Dwarshuis to replace Chris Woakes

The Indian Premier League of 2021 is about to begin super soon. The tournament will be underway from 19th September. All preparations have already begun in the UAE. Amidst this, the Delhi Capitals have announced a player replacement. Citing personal reasons, Chris Woakes has pulled out of the tournament. Delhi Capitals have now roped in Ben Dwarshuis. He will feature for the remainder of the Indian Premier League.

The Delhi Capitals announced this in an official statement made by the management. Ben Dwarshuis has scalped 100 wickets in 82 T20 matches at an average of 23.73. The 27-year-old, who plays for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League, and is the sixth-highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament with 85 wickets in 69 matches. Dwarshuis will be joining the Delhi Capitals team bio-bubble in the UAE soon. Firstly, this news has been a big blow to the franchise. Secondly, Chris Woakes had also had an excellent first phase for the team. He successfully picked up 5 wickets in 3 matches in the first half of the IPL.

Interestingly, the Rishabh Pant-led team has had a very good first phase in the tournament. The team has been on the top of the points table so far. Let’s see how well they go for phase two in the UAE.
