ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Records and Statistics: Batting Streaks Recorded

Since the first World Cup in 1975, there have been a lot of great games, amazing teams, and the breaking of several records in different categories. But there are some records you should be proud of, and others you wish didn’t have your name on them. On the other hand, there have been better head-to-head records between two teams in the history of the World Cup than this one. Several records have already been set at the World Cup, even though the competition continues. In the following section, we look at the longest streaks in World Cup history, from the most consecutive tons scored to the longest winning spots and unbeaten streaks, the longest losing streaks, and the longest ducks.

Most Consecutive Centuries

Kumar Sankara

Only Kumar Sangakkara has scored four hundred runs in a row in one-day internationals. It was even more important because it was the World Cup. The 2015 World Cup was the last ODI that Sangakkara played in. He had been in a lot of other movies. His first two games of 2015 were quiet, with scores of 39 and 7. Once he started rolling, there was no stopping him. Sangakkara scored his first hundreds of the season against Bangladesh, which helped Sri Lanka win by a large margin. He hit 105 runs in 76 balls without getting out.

With his unbeaten 117 off of 86 balls, Sri Lanka could easily beat England’s target of 310. The next time Sangakkara played was against Australia. He made 104 out of 107 runs, which was his slowest hundreds of the tournaments and the only one he made in a losing cause. The master left-hander for Sri Lanka added insult to injury by feasting on the Scots. He scored 124 runs off of 95 balls, giving him the longest streak of consecutive hundreds in the game’s history in the 50-over format at four.

Most Consecutive 50+ Scores

Virat Kohli

From June 9 to June 30, 2019, Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli achieved five straight fifty-plus scores at the World Cup in England and Wales. In nine games, the batsman scored 82 runs against Australia, 77 runs against Pakistan, 67 runs against Afghanistan, 72 runs against the West Indies, and 66 runs against England. India triumphed in their group and advanced to the semi-finals. Kohli broke the World Cup record for consecutive 50s by two, held by Graeme Smith of South Africa in 2007 and Aaron Finch of Australia on June 25, 2019. The latter doubled his fifty dollars, giving him a hundred in all.

Steve Smith

Steve Smith made history in the 2015 World Cup when he was the first player to hit five consecutive fifties while playing for Australia under Michael Clarke’s leadership. Smith hit his fifth fifty-plus hundred in a row on March 29, 2015, against New Zealand. He ended the run in the final with 56 not out. At the 2019 World Cup, seven other batters also got 50 runs in at least five games, but not in a row.

Most Consecutive Ducks

Shem Ngoche And Nicholas De Groot (2003 & 2011)

When it comes to having consecutive ducks in a row at a World Cup, Shem Ngoche of Kenya and Nicholas De Groot of Canada share an unenviable record. During the 2003 World Cup, De Groot was sent off three times without making it hard for the scorekeepers. The teams playing these three games were Bangladesh, Kenya, and Sri Lanka. In the 2011 tournament, Ngoche did the same thing when he was out for a duck in three straight games against New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
