Abhishek Sharma’s Fiery Comeback Against LSG

The incident happened during the 61st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, played between LSG and SRH at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Abhishek Sharma found his form again in the match against Rishabh Pant’s team and played a powerful innings. The left-handed opener started aggressively and kept up the pace as he batted.

He was still going strong after reaching his fifty, but in the 8th over, Digvesh Rathi got him out. Abhishek scored 59 runs off just 20 balls, hitting four fours and six sixes.

Heated Exchange Between Sharma and Rathi

On the third ball of that over, Rathi bowled a googly outside off-stump. Abhishek tried to hit it over extra cover but didn’t connect well, and Shardul Thakur caught the ball.

Rathi was thrilled with the wicket and gave Abhishek a fired-up send-off, even doing his famous notebook celebration.

Abhishek didn’t like it and said something back to Rathi while walking off. Both players then walked toward each other and had a tense exchange.

Things quickly escalated, with both players trading angry words. The umpires and other players had to step in to separate them.

During the mid-innings break, SRH debutant Harsh Dubey spoke about their performance with the ball, saying they did well to restrict LSG to a manageable score. He said:

“First of all, thank you sir. I felt that I could’ve bowled better. Still, we have done a decent job to restrict them under 220. Well, that is part and parcel of the game. Sometimes those catches stick, sometimes it doesn’t. I was completely focusing on my own bowling and how to bowl my four overs.”

Harsh Dubey also referred to himself as a batting all-rounder and shared his thoughts on his maiden IPL wicket of Mitchell Marsh. He explained:

“I consider myself as a batting all-rounder but it depends on the toss. (Dismissal of Mitch Marsh) Sir, I tried to bowl it slow and get some turn. The ball did stick in the wicket, and I wanted to bowl it away from his arc. So, I am happy that I could execute my plan. Definitely sir. My strength has been to turn the ball. I will try to bowl better in terms of lines and lengths in the upcoming games.”
