Afg vs Pak: 3 match ODI series stands postponed until further notice

After a word between both the boards, the Afghanistan vs Pakistan three match ODI series stands postponed due to logistical issues.

The Afghanistan vs Pakistan three-match ODI series stands postponed due to logistical issues. The decision came to light after a word between both the boards.

It is to be noted that travel to Sri Lanka would be a hindrance for the Afghanistan team and unfortunately the situation would have severely affected the mental space of the players. The PCB also said in a tweet that it will try to reschedule the series for 2022.

CEO Hamid Shinwari of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed that they tried to move the series to Pakistan, but then decided to postpone it owing to the situation in Afghanistan.

Unfortunately, Sri Lanka has announced a 10-day fresh lockdown owing to 3793 new COVID-19 cases and the highest-ever single-day death toll of 187 that the country reported. On the other hand, no commercial flights are taking off from Kabul after the Taliban has taken over the country.

It was decided that the Afghanistan contingent was supposed to travel to Pakistan by road, then fly to Dubai, and then on to Colombo for the series, but this tough route was interfering with the COVID-19 protocols and many logistical challenges occurred owing to the postponement of the series.

With all the delay and lack of clarity on the tour and lack of time for the players to adapt to the conditions, both the boards decided to reschedule the series for 2022.

The Pakistan Cricket Board announced the same via a tweet.
