The long-running wait for a defining heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua might finally be nearing its end, with fresh talks suggesting the two could share the ring later this year in a fight that would easily rank among the biggest ever seen in British boxing.

According to promoter Eddie Hearn, discussions between both camps have picked up pace, and there is growing belief that a deal for a November showdown can be reached. While nothing is signed yet, contracts have already been exchanged, and negotiations are continuing without any major roadblocks so far.

Fury recently stepped back into action after more than a year away, earning a points win over Arslanbek Makhmudov. Soon after, Netflix created a buzz online by announcing that an agreement for the fight had already been struck, branding it the richest in British boxing history. That announcement turned out to be premature, but it did underline just how close things might be behind the scenes.

More details on Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua’s path, however, is expected to include one more stop before any meeting with Fury. His win over Jake Paul late last year was his only outing in quite some time, and the plan now is to get him back into rhythm with a fight around July. The opponent is likely to be someone on a similar level to Makhmudov, allowing Joshua to sharpen up before stepping into a far bigger spotlight.

Hearn has suggested that most of the discussions at this stage are centered around finer details rather than major disagreements. Things like scheduling, venue, and the July opponent are still being ironed out, but the overall direction remains clear. Joshua’s team wants the Fury fight, just not at the cost of going in underprepared.

There has also been more going on outside the ring for Anthony Joshua. A car accident in Nigeria late last year tragically claimed the lives of two of his close friends, and he also picked up injuries in the incident. He is expected to be cleared soon to return to full training, which will be a key step in getting his year back on track.

In recent weeks, Anthony Joshua has spent time in Ukraine working on his conditioning alongside unified champion Oleksandr Usyk. It is a setup that could help him rebuild both physically and mentally ahead of what could be the most important fight of his career.

If negotiations continue on the current path, November could finally deliver the matchup fans have been talking about for years. It is not just about the money or the scale of the event anymore, but about settling a rivalry that has lingered over the heavyweight division for far too long.
