In the latest clashes of the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Malaysia 2023, France, Argentina, Australia, and Germany emerged victorious in their final Pool A and Pool B matches.

The contests in Pool A witnessed Australia and Argentina securing impressive victories. Argentina, the defending champions, solidified their campaign by overwhelming Chile 8-0, relegating the Chileans to the bottom spot as the Argentinians claimed the top position in Pool A.

In another Pool A match, Australia concluded their pool stage with a 5-2 triumph over Malaysia, securing the second spot. Having suffered only one defeat to Argentina, the Australians settled in second place, while the tournament hosts rested in third.

Meanwhile, in Pool B, France continued their unbeaten streak with a thrilling back-and-forth victory over South Africa, maintaining their perfect record in the tournament.

In the same group, Germany showcased dominance with a resounding 10-0 win over Egypt, securing the second position and leaving Egypt without points, with South Africa settling in third.

The most riveting game of the day witnessed a flurry of goals in the first half as France edged out South Africa 5-4. France swiftly netted two field goals within the first four minutes, setting the tone for an action-packed match. Despite some relative calm, both teams exchanged goals, with South Africa leveling the score at 3-3 in the 21st minute.

The intense back-and-forth continued, with France regaining the lead with a field goal. South Africa responded with another goal to equalize before Cameron Le Foriester’s second field goal evened the score once again. France managed to secure their fifth and final goal, maintaining a narrow lead until the final buzzer.

Despite South Africa’s attempts with two wasted penalty corners in the third quarter and France failing to convert one in the final quarter, the score remained at 5-4. France held onto their early lead, ensuring a thrilling conclusion to an action-packed encounter.
