Japan’s Shimizu Sara and Kim Geonhui of the Republic of Korea secured the gold medal in women’s and men’s snowboard halfpipe at the Asian Winter Games Harbin 2025 after the finals were cancelled due to strong winds on Thursday (13 February).
The champions were crowned on the basis of qualification results from a day earlier at the Snowboard Halfpipe Stadium. After the deliberation, 15-year-old Shimizu and Kim, 16, pocketed gold medals on the eve of the Closing Ceremony.
Shimizu’s second qualifying run of 98.00 gave her the edge over countrywoman and Beijing 2022 bronze medallist Tomita Sena (93.75). Wu Shaotong of China clinched bronze.
Kim’s first run of 78.00 got him across the line. Kikuchihara Koyata of Japan (75.00) took home silver with Kim’s Korean team-mate Lee Jio rounding off the podium (69.75).
Former world champion Lee Chaeun, who struck gold in the slopestyle on Saturday, finished sixth on 43.75 after his two times out.
