Avinash Sable of Maharashtra sets new record in steeplechase in Patiala


On the third day of the ongoing 24th National Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships in NIS, Maharashtra’s Avinash Sable performed brilliantly in the 3000m steeplechase match. He set a new national record in 8 minutes 20.20 seconds. Sable created this history, breaking his old national record. He made the old national record in the World Championship held in Doha on October 4, 2019. Although 26-year-old Avinash has already qualified for the Olympics he also completed this match with full confidence. Shankar Lal Swami of Rajasthan finished second and Rajkumar of Haryana came third.

On the other hand, Neeraj Chopra of Haryana broke his old record and set a new meet record in the javelin throw. Yashveer Singh of Haryana finished second and Rohit Yadav of UP finished third. In Shotput, Punjab’s Tejinderpal Singh Toor came first, Karnveer Singh second and Devinder Singh of Punjab finished third. At the same time, Abhishek Pal of UP was the winner in men’s 10,000 meters. Kartik Kumar of UP second and Arjun Kumar of UP third, P Veeramani of Tamil Nadu in first 110-meter hurdle, CP Srikanth Madhya second of Karnataka and Yashwant Kumar Lavetti third of Andhra Pradesh, Sarvesh Anil Kushare of Maharashtra in High Jump first, Adarsh ​​Ram from Tamil Nadu finished second, Geo Jose from Kerala and Siddharth Yadav from Haryana stood third.
