Barcelona Weighs Nico Williams Transfer, Considering Impact On Lamine Yamal
Barcelona are carefully evaluating their transfer plans as they consider signing Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams. According to RadioCAT, the club is concerned that Williams’ arrival could affect the development of their young talent, Lamine Yamal.
Williams was one of Barcelona’s top targets last summer, but he chose to stay at Athletic Bilbao. Despite missing out on him, Barcelona continues to keep him on their radar. However, the club is cautious about the potential impact of bringing in a high-profile winger like Williams.
Lamine Yamal, the 17-year-old sensation from Barcelona’s academy, has been a standout performer this season. He currently leads LaLiga’s assist charts with seven and has been a key player for Barcelona. Yamal’s impressive form follows his success at Euro 2024, where he played a crucial role in Spain’s victory.
Despite Yamal’s brilliance, Barcelona’s lack of depth in attack became evident when they lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad in his absence. Yamal was sidelined due to an injury sustained during their Champions League game against Red Star Belgrade. Without him, Barcelona struggled to create chances, highlighting their need for reinforcements up front.
The club is reportedly also considering AC Milan’s Rafael Leão as an alternative. Still, they remain interested in Nico Williams but fear his arrival might disrupt Yamal’s progress. Both players were instrumental in Spain’s Euro 2024 success, forming a strong partnership in attack.
Barcelona views Yamal as the future of the team and wants to ensure he continues to develop without distractions. So far this season, Yamal has recorded six goals and eight assists in just 16 appearances across all competitions, solidifying his status as a rising star.
Lamine Yamal’s injury troubles may keep him out of action for longer than expected. He injured his ankle during the Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade and was unable to play in Barcelona’s defeat to Real Sociedad.
Initial reports suggested Yamal would recover by November 21, but new updates indicate he might miss Saturday’s LaLiga match against Celta Vigo. Sources close to the club say he is still experiencing pain and is unlikely to be ready in time.
Barcelona will hope for Yamal’s swift recovery, as his presence is vital to their success this season. Meanwhile, the club continues to weigh its options for bolstering the attack while protecting their young star’s development.
