Barcelona is in a mess since Messi’s departure. After the 4-2 win over Real Sociedad in the opening game of the campaign, the Catalan giants have not had a good game at all.
They drew against Bilbao in the second game at San Mames which was followed by a struggled win over Getafe. Bayern Munich destroyed Barcelona in the Champions League at Camp Nou winning 3-0. Now they have stuttered to two draws in four days against Granada and Cadiz.
Although the team is indeed going under an injury crisis and missing key components in their team, the slump in form of this magnitude was not at all expected.
Koeman’s position at the club according to sources is hanging by a thread.
Cadiz had 13 attempts on goal and hit 3 on target. Meanwhile, Barcelona had less than half of Cadiz’s total attempts and had two shots on target. Cadiz could have won the match easily if not for Ter Stegen’s inspiring performance. The German was named the man of the match rightfully.
On top of that Frenkie De Jong was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in the space of four minutes and Koeman was sent off late in the game. As a result, he will be banned from the touchline on Sunday’s clash against Levante.
One notable positive for Barcelona was Gavi starting the game. He became the second-youngest starter for the club in this century only after Ansu Fati.
As a result, Barcelona is 7 points behind Real Madrid but has one game in hand. Meanwhile, Real Madrid is surging at the top of the table after the latest 6-1 win over Mallorca.
