In an unprecedented disciplinary decision, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has declared that Towhid Hridoy has received a four-match suspension with immediate effect. This comes after 24-year-old batter Towhid Hridoy, who is currently leading Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) underway, was found to have breached the BCB’s code of conduct.
Details Behind BCB’s Ban on Towhid Hridoy

The match where the suspension took place was the DPDCL match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Gazi Group Cricketers at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on 26th April 2025. Hridoy showed dissent against the umpire’s call when he got dismissed through a catch, staying at the crease for a very long time instead of going back quickly.
The complaint was filed by on-field umpires Moniruzzaman Tinku, Ali Arman Rajon, third umpire Muhammad Kamruzzaman, and fourth official ATM Ikram.
Disciplinary Proceedings and Hearing

Towhid Hridoy received notice of a complete disciplinary hearing, but he did not attend the hearing, which was to take place in the umpires’ dressing room, and therefore, the Match Referee, Akhtar Ahmad, filed the matter in accordance with Clause 5.2.6 of the DPDCL 2024/25 Code of Conduct.
After conducting the hearing, Hridoy was found guilty of a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8, specifically “Showing Dissent at an Umpire’s Decision during a Match.”
Sanctions Imposed on Towhid Hridoy
According to the ruling of the BCB:
Hridoy has been fined Taka 10,000.
One (1) demerit point has been added to his disciplinary record.
He now has a total of eight (8) demerit points, considering previous offenses.
Under the regulations of the BCB, gaining eight demerit points prompts a suspension, resulting in his four-match ban.
Growing Disciplinary Issues of Towhid Hridoy
Towhid Hridoy had already been placed on a one-match ban before then, but with appeals made by the players, this ban had been postponed. Continued breaches of the code of conduct have now finally forced the BCB to take stronger action.
The BCB Bans Towhid Hridoy sets out the board’s stance on a ‘zero tolerance’ policy for disciplinary offenses in domestic cricket.
