Indian cricket team is due to play three ODIs against Zimbabwe ahead of the Asia Cup 2022. The Indian team selected for this series has already in Zimbabwe training ahead of the first game which is to be played on Thursday, 18th August. The Indian cricket team will be led by KL Rahul as he was declared match fit after a long injury break.
Washington Sundar who was injured long back has been ruled out for this 3-match ODIs. Thus, BCCI and selectors have included Shahbaz Ahmed in the squad for this series in place of Washington Sundar. Shahbaz Ahmed couldn’t be much happier after he got selected in the Indian team. He has opened up about playing for the Indian team.
“Everybody who plays cricket wants to wear the India colours. Being called up for the Indian team is a dream come true. Whenever I have played for Bengal, I have given my all. The Bengal team believed in me,” said Shahbaz Ahmed via CAB Media, also reported by PTI.
It is possible that Shahbaz Ahmed could make it to the starting XI of India in this series against Zimbabwe.
