The second test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 between India and Australia began with high drama in Adelaide. Australia’s fast bowler, Mitchell Starc, quickly made his mark by dismissing India’s opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, on the very first ball of the match. Starc’s celebration was intense and aggressive, as he remembered the sledging incident between them from the previous test.

Mitchell Starc’s Revenge on Yashasvi Jaiswal

In the first BGT test held in Perth, Jaiswal scored a century, and during the game, he had teased Starc. He mocked the Australian bowler by saying he was “bowling too slow.” This comment seemed to have stuck with Starc. So, when they faced off in the second test in Adelaide, Starc was determined to make a strong statement. And he did, with a fiery delivery that dismissed Jaiswal for a duck on the very first ball.

The Dismissal

Jaiswal, who was one of India’s two centurions in Perth, tried to move across the stumps as Starc delivered the ball. Starc bowled a full, swinging ball aimed at the stumps. Jaiswal missed his flick, and the ball hit him right in front of the leg stump. There was a slight swing in the delivery, and it was clearly heading to hit the leg stump. As a result, Jaiswal didn’t even think of using DRS. He was out LBW without scoring any runs.

Starc’s Aggressive Celebration

After taking Jaiswal’s wicket, Starc roared with excitement. His celebration was loud and full of energy, showing that he had not forgotten Jaiswal’s words from the Perth test. It was a moment of personal satisfaction for Starc, who had clearly been waiting for this opportunity to respond on the field.
