Canada are the defending champions after they beat Italy in the 2023 final, and this year there is plenty of talent battling it out among the eight teams.
Among the top players set to feature in the tournament are French Open champion Iga Swiatek of Poland, Italy’s Olympic gold medallist Jasmine Paolini and Leylah Fernandez, who led Canada across the finish line last year.
Billie Jean King Cup 2024 finals: Format
Twelve nations will compete in the final stage of the 2024 edition of the competition, which consists of qualifiers and play-offs to decide the lineup.
The ties will be staged in a best-of-three rubbers format and will be played on one day. There will be two singles followed by a doubles.
Of those teams, the four seeds earned byes directly into the quarter-finals: 2023 finalists Canada and Italy, wildcard Czechia and Australia.
The other eight teams will duel in an opening round to be part of the final eight, competing in ties which consist of two singles matches and a doubles tie-breaker if necessary.

Defending champions Canada return as a confident unit with four of the five players who were members of the maiden BJK Cup title winning team. Bianca Andreescu is the only new addition. They have Gabriela Dabrowski on their side, who is fresh off from winning the WTA Finals doubles title in Riyadh.
Hosts Spain are headlined by world number 12 Paula Badosa . They are set to face a tough challenge against Swiatek’s Poland in the opening round.
Danielle Collins, Taylor Townsend and Ashlyn Krueger are key players in the United States squad. Other big names at the finals are Italian world number four Paolini, former US Open champion Emma Raducanu representing Great Britain and doubles world number one Katerina Siniakova of Czechia.
