West Indies kicked off their campaign in the 2026 T20 World Cup with a 35-run win over Scotland at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The highlight of the game was Ramario Shepherd’s hat-trickt who packed up four wickets in an over and became the eighth bowler in the history of the tournament with this achievement against his name.
Here is the list of bowlers who have taken at least one hat-trick in the 10 editions of the T20 World Cup
Brett Lee vs Bangladesh (2007)
Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee was the first bowler to pick up three wickets in three balls in the T20 World Cup when the inaugural edition of the tournament took place in South Africa. The game in question involved Bangladesh, where Lee got rid of Shakib Al Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza and Alok Kapali.
Curtis Campher vs Netherlands (2021)
The 2021 T20 World Cup saw as many as three hat-tricks, the first of which was registered by Ireland’s Curtis Campher against the Netherlands. Interestingly, that particular edition was played in the UAE, a venue that is considered to be friendly for batters.
Coming back to the game, Campher cleaned up Colin Ackeraman, Ryan Ten Doeschate and Scott Edwards.
Wanindu Hasaranga vs South Africa (2021)
The second hat-trick of this particular edition was grabbed by former Sri Lankan captain Wanindu Hasaranga, which came against South Africa.
Hasaranga got the better of Aiden Markram, South Africa’s former T20I captain, Temba Bavuma and Dwaine Pretorius. Although Sri Lanka lost the game, Hasaranga registered his name in elite company.
Kagiso Rabada vs England (2021)
South Africa’s experienced fast bowler Kagiso was the third bowler to take a hat-trick in the 2021 T20 World Cup, which came against England and included the wickets of Chris Woakes, Eoin Morgan and Chris Jordan.
Karthik Meiyappan vs Sri Lanka (2022)
UAE’s Karthik Meiyappan also finds himself in the list of bowlers with a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup. The spinner cleaned up three Sri Lankan batters in the form of Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka.
Joshua Little vs New Zealand (2022)
Irish bowler Joshua Little is the second pacer from Ireland to take a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup, and he did so against New Zealand in the 2022 T20 World Cup held in Australia; however, Ireland lost that match, but Little got rid of Kane Williamson, James Neesham and Mitchel Santner.
Pat Cummins vs Afghanistan (2024)
Australia’s ODI and Test captain Pat Cummins, who isn’t a part of the team’s 15-member squad in the ongoing competition, picked up a hat-trick against Afghanistan in the Super Eight stage during the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Romario Shepherd vs Scotland (2026)
The latest entrant in the hat-trick clubs happens to be Romario Shepherd, who bowled West Indies to a win in their first match of the 2026 T20 World Cup against Scotland by picking up three wickets in three balls at a crucial stage of the game.
