Right after the conclusion of the US Open 2024, attention now turns to the Canada Open, a prestigious Super 500 badminton tournament on the BWF World Tour. This annual event, held since 1957, is set to kick off at the Markin Macphail Centre in Calgary, Canada.

The action-packed schedule begins with first-round matches scheduled for July 2 and July 3, followed by the second round, quarterfinals, and semifinals from July 4 to July 6. The tournament will culminate with the finals taking place on Sunday, July 7.

Several promising Indian shuttlers are gearing up for the North American leg of the 2024 BWF World Tour at the Canada Open. The Markin-MacPhail Centre will witness participation from 80 singles players and 92 doubles teams worldwide, including a contingent of 6 singles players and 4 doubles pairs from India.

Lakshya Sen at the Canada Open

Following defending champion Lakshya Sen’s withdrawal, the Indian singles lineup will feature Priyanshu Rajawat, Anupama Upadhyaya, Ayush Shetty, Sankar Subramanian, and Tanya Hemanth. In doubles, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will lead India’s challenge alongside Krishna Prasad Garaga and Sai Pratheek K.
