IPL 2021 was suspended indefinitely by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after several cases emerged from inside IPL’s bio-bubble. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)’s Varun Chakravarty and Sandeep Warrier tested positive for Covid-19 while Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)’s Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals (DC)’s Amit Mishra contracted the virus subsequent day. The Indian board immediately suspended the tournament.

Earlier, several overseas players had left the tournament midway citing bio-bubble fatigue and therefore the Covid situation in India. Andrew Tye, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa, and Liam Livingstone were the four overseas players who had flown back home even before the tournament was postponed.
