Chelsea Looks To Shrug Off Raheem Sterling, In Talks With Potential Bidders

Raheem Sterling  joined Chelsea for £47.5m from Manchester City in 2022 and wants to be informed of potential openings.

It is no secret that Chelsea is preparing to part ways with Raheem Sterling. Manager Enzo Maresca has admitted that Sterling is unlikely to feature this season. Sterling’s possible exit from the Blues amplified after he was dropped from the club’s Premier League’s season’s opener against Manchester City.

The exit speculations gathered momentum after the winger was seen training away from the club’s first team. It is said that the England international star is keen to make a move from Stamford Bridge before the transfer window shuts next week.

“At this moment, they are training apart,” Maresca stated ahead of Thursday’s Europa Conference League playoff Servette. “We have a big squad, for me it’s impossible to give everyone minutes. So if they’re looking for minutes, probably it is better to leave.”

The arrival of Joao Felix, Pedro Neto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and a host of other young talents have made Sterling persona-non-grata in Stamford Bridge. He has felt the need to leave the club on a permanent basis and wants a final solution to his exit after not featuring in Maresca’s plans.

According to reports, three clubs have shown interests in having the 29-year-old on their side. The club is reportedly in talks with Aston Villa as Unai Emery wants to boost his attacking order. However, Sterling’s salary is worth £325,000 per week which is above the budget of Aston Villa. The financial situation might hurt the winger’s move to Villa.

New Applicants

As per sources, even Newcastle are seriously considering taking advantage of Maresca’s squad overhaul before the closure of the transfer window. Even Crystal Palace and Juventus are reported to have shown interest in Sterling.

On the other hand, the England star is fancying Liverpool, where he spent five years before his controversial £49 million switch to Manchester City in 2015.
