YELLOW ARMY is ready to make its mark back again this time around in the 2021 IPL starting from 9the APRIL. The previous season of the IPL was a definite disaster for the WHISTLE PODU gang, as they, for the first time in their individual history of IPL, crashed and burned before the playoff phase. The altitude this time around for the CHENNAI SUPERKINGS is no different with huge expectations and reliability from their fans, which happens to be one of the most vocal fanbases around in the IPL. Let us get through the Team profile for the mighty YELLOW BRIGADE.
Auction Performance analysis:-
It won’t be wrong to assess that CSK needed a shake-up in some departments, where they lagged out in the IPL last year. So, the Auction for this IPL was very crucial and even the team management knew it. They particularly emphasized bringing in some strong names in their allrounder departments, as BRAVO failed to leave his mark from the last two editions of IPL. So they purchased ENGLISH allrounder, MOIN ALI, and former RAJASTHAN ROYAL Bowling allrounder, Krishnappa Gowtham for 7CR and 9.25 CR respectively. In an interesting turn of events, just before the IPL AUCTION this year, they traded Robin Uthappa from RAJASTHAN and bought India’s strong TEST format hallmark, CHETESHWAR PUJARA for his base price of 50 Lakhs.
They now look all set, with big yet experimental names making their way in, but some pundits criticized their strategy for not strengthening their bowling unit this time around with no addition of big, tried, and tested names in their line-up.
Questions for the team to answer:-
One of the most beloved teams of IPL, Chennai, will be asked some tough questions with some additional important ones as well. “With huge fanbase, comes extraordinary expectations” and THALA DHONI knows it very well.
Some questions that they will be asked are:-
Team combination and how much time it would take them to settle down into a core team, with the right elements?
Strength of top-order and relevance for Pujara or not?
The “allrounder” problem, Moin or Bravo?
Expectations from fans and Players to watch out for:-
There’s one thing that goes pretty head-to-head, with a long season of IPL is the bench strength of the teams and CSK’s talent pool happens to be quite large but with good depth that we watched last time around. The BIG MONEY TAG player, K. GOWTHAM will be expected to perform and give CSK, the moment of glory.
Chennai always goes with experience and aged squad upfront clear. But, T20 is a game of maintaining a fine balance between experience and energy and CSK needs to understand this balance thingy.
CSK starts its 2021 voyage in IPL on 10th April, against last season’s Finalists, DELHI CAPITAL.
