Ahead of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia, Cheteshwar Pujara has offered insights on what Team India must do to win the match at The Gabba in Brisbane. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy series is level at 1-1 at this stage, and the stakes are high. So, what Pujara has to say could prove crucial for the Indian team as they look to take the lead in this important contest.

In a video shared by Star Sports on social media, Cheteshwar Pujara has highlighted three key strategies that he believes could help Team India win the Gabba Test. His tips focus on improving batting performance, creating effective plans against key Australian players, and approaching the match with a fresh mindset.

1. Better Batting and Improved Planning

Cheteshwar Pujara said the batsmen of Team India must raise their game and prepare better for the Test, as he also pointed out that batting has been a challenge for the team in certain phases of the series, and the players must adjust to this situation, particularly on difficult pitches of Australia. A well-thought-out batting approach, along with discipline and patience, might be the key to posting big scores and setting up a strong foundation for the team’s success.

2. Special Plan Against Travis Head

A targeted plan for Travis Head, one of Australia’s in-form players, is another important element, Pujara said. The key man to Australia has been Head, and this, according to Pujara, is an area of caution in facing the ad for Team India as far as the bowlers of the team are concerned. He said that the different options could be in line positions, variations in field changes, or special bowls, which could have huge positive impacts on India while in the game.

3. Fresh Start and Perform like at the Perth Test

Cheteshwar Pujara also mentioned that Team India should start fresh for the Gabba Test. He reminded the players of their performance in the Perth Test, where they dominated and put in a clinical performance. If they take a fresh start and replicate the positive energy and execution from the Perth Test, then Team India can be more focused and confident in their pursuit of victory in Brisbane.

The BGT series is at 1-1 at the moment with the third Test match to take place from December 14. This will be when both teams will show up on the field as well for the remaining games of the series:

• Third Test: 14th-18th Dec: Gabba, Brisbane
• Fourth Test: 26th-30th Dec: Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)
• Fifth Test: 3rd-7th Jan: Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG)

These matches will decide the series and Team India will look to consolidate their good performances and seize crucial moments to win the trophy.

Piyush Chawla Supports Rohit Sharma

Former cricketer Piyush Chawla also supported Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who is facing a lean patch in Test cricket, besides the statements of Cheteshwar Pujara. Chawla praised the leadership quality of Rohit and mentioned that though it is some time now that India’s captain has not gained momentum, it cannot be very long before this returns to him.

He underlined that Rohit is a seasoned leader having an excellent cricketing brain and when he starts giving good runs, he is bound to excel both with his bat as well as in his leadership role.

Chawla feels that though Rohit Sharma is in the worst form, he is one of the important players for Team India and that his leadership will take them through to the remaining series.

Before the third Test at The Gabba, India is well-equipped to prepare by reading the words of Cheteshwar Pujara. With a focus on stronger batting, a more deliberate strategy against Travis Head, and a new approach altogether, Team India can actually have a better chance to win in Brisbane.

It is also evident that Piyush Chawla supports Rohit Sharma, and it was a time when leadership was at its best, and, surely, Team India is going to look up to their seniors to make things happen in the rest of the series. With the next few matches coming as crucial ones, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is all set for an exciting and competitive close.
