Cody Rhodes Uses Kimura Lock: Lesnar's Return Hint?
Cody Rhodes defeated Jey Uso in the semi-final of the 2025 WWE King of the Ring tournament, taking one more step toward becoming the king. It was a hard-fought match where both superstars gave their best. But what really got fans talking was Cody using the Kimura Lock, a move made famous by Brock Lesnar.
After the match, Jey showed sportsmanship by raising Cody’s hand and respecting the win. Still, what stood out the most to fans was seeing Cody use a move that Lesnar usually uses as a finisher.
The first and biggest reason could be that WWE is planning Brock Lesnar’s return. Cody and Brock had a big match last time at SummerSlam 2023, where Cody won. Since then, Lesnar has been away from WWE.
Now that Cody is using his move, fans might start talking about Lesnar again. It’s a smart way to build hype and make people excited for what’s coming. If Brock returns, this could lead to another big match between the two.
Sometimes wrestlers use another star’s move as a way to show respect or tribute. This might be one of those moments. Cody could have used the Kimura Lock as a nod to Brock Lesnar and everything he has done in WWE.
This is common in wrestling. For example:
So Cody using Lesnar’s move could be a sign of respect to one of the most dominant superstars ever.
Cody’s main finishing move is the Cross Rhodes, and it’s helped him win many big matches, including the one where he ended Roman Reigns’ title run. But Cody has used the Kimura Lock before too.
In Backlash France 2024, he surprised fans by using the move against AJ Styles. Now he’s done it again, which shows it might be more than just a one-time thing. Maybe Cody is adding this submission move to his regular arsenal.
Having both a striking finisher and a submission finisher gives Cody more ways to win. It also makes him a more dangerous opponent, especially in high-stakes matches.
