Cole Palmer has been named the England Men’s Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season, the Football Association announced on Tuesday.

Palmer, 22, won the public vote, surpassing Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka who finished second and third respectively.

The midfielder made his senior debut for England in November 2023 during a 2-0 home victory against Malta at Wembley and has since earned nine caps. Five of those appearances came at Euro 2024 where he scored two goals including the one  in the final against Spain as the Three Lions lost 2-1.

His performances at Euro 2024 included five appearances and two goals, one of which came in England’s final defeat to Spain in Berlin. He also played a pivotal role in the semi-final, assisting Ollie Watkins for a late winner against the Netherlands.

The award comes after Cole Palmer was named PFA young player of the year for 2023–2024 in August, following an incredible debut season at Chelsea.
