Cricket: Ajinkya Rahane gets first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane along with his wife Radhika took the first dose of vaccine of COVID-19 in Mumbai on Saturday.

Ace Mumbai batsmen Ajinkya Rahane took the first dose of the vaccine of COVID-19 in Mumbai on Saturday with his wife Radhika. Rahane urged those who are eligible for vaccination, do get vaccinated.

Rahane clicked himself and shared it via social media creating awareness and urging the eligible populace to get the jab. Here is what he said –
“Got my first dose of the vaccine today. I urge everyone to register and get yourself vaccinated if you’re eligible,” Rahane tweeted.

Ravi Shastri was the first to get vaccinated in March when people above 45 years of age were slotted for vaccination. Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan too got vaccinated recently.

“Vaccinated Can’t thank all our frontline warriors enough for their sacrifices and dedication. Please do not hesitate and get yourself vaccinated as soon as possible. It’ll help us all defeat this virus,” Dhawan had tweeted.

Indian captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma announced a fundraiser for COVID-19 relief in India yesterday. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin offered to buy and distribute N95 masks and urged people to get vaccinated.

IPL was suspended after players and coaches were found to be COVID-19 positive. Ajinkya Rahane would be seen in World Test Championship which will be played from June 18 to 22.
