CSK vs DC: By defeating the Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets, Chennai Super Kings have picked up win number five this IPL 2026 season. Delhi Capitals had the option of winning their first match by batting first after winning the toss, but chose to bat first instead.

According to Axar Patel, looking at the pitch conditions (black soil), it would slow down as the game progressed, making it more challenging to make shots.

Delhi’s Batting Falters Against Chennai’s Sharp Bowling Attack

At the beginning of the game, Delhi Capitals looked to have gotten off to a good start in the first over, but they struggled throughout the rest of their Powerplay. Chennai’s bowlers were very consistent with their line and length, and it worked out very well for them, as by the end of the 10th over, the DC team had lost 5 wickets and scored only 69 runs.

Delhi made Sameer Rizvi their New impact Player, and he did an outstanding job of supporting Stubbs on the other end, while also providing some support at the end of the innings with Ashutosh Sharma hitting some big shots. Together, they were able to help get the total for DC to 155 runs.

Starc and Lungi Tighten the Grip During the Powerplay

Chennai required 156 runs to win. The pitch was not particularly conducive to batting, leading to the expectation that the match might go down to the wire. Starc and Lungi bowled exceptionally well in the initial overs; consequently, the Chennai team managed to score only 44 runs during the Powerplay.

However, Karthik Sharma once again batted with great maturity. Sanju Samson, too, crossed the 20-run mark yet again a milestone that effectively signaled he would not be getting out in this match.

This is because, historically, whenever he has scored more than 20 runs, he has successfully gone on to compile a substantial score. This match proved to be no exception.

CSK vs DC: Sanju and Karthik Guide Chennai to Victory

Sanju Samson not only maintained his magnificent form but also notched up yet another half-century. Kartik appeared quite bogged down initially, but Samson was scoring runs rapidly from the other end, effectively bringing down the required run rate.

Batting brilliantly, Sanju and Kartik not only forged a century partnership but also steered their team to victory with 15 balls to spare.

Sanju batted magnificently to score 87 runs off 52 balls, while Kartik Sharma contributed 41 runs off 31 deliveries. For Delhi, Lungi and Kuldeep claimed one wicket each.
