D Gukesh, the reigning world champion, is facing a lot of criticism right now, but his coach, Grzegorz Gajewski, is standing by him.
Gukesh has not been doing well in his games, and his form was no better in the last Norway Chess Tournament. He finished at last with eight points.
Grzegorz Gajewski On D Gukesh Form
Gajewski says that D Gukesh is under a lot of pressure because he is the world champion, and he thinks that everyone is looking at him. Gajeswki and his team are working really hard to help Gukesh, but it is still tough for him
He said, “It’s a very difficult spot to be where he’s at. He is under the spotlight, and we are doing all we can in our power to come back to the highest level,” as quoted by Endgame AI.
Coach Supports D Gukesh’s Playing Style
Coach Gajewski is defending D Gukesh’s style of playing chess. He said, Gukesh likes to take risks when he plays, but that just didn’t work out in Norway Chess.
However, Gajewski says that this is the style that helped D Gukesh become the world champion.
Gajewski said, “That approach made him the world champion in the first place. He really needed to do so many things to make this world title happen. So I can’t really blame the approach. He has many weaknesses, and when he was winning the title, he had the same weaknesses as he has right now. Maybe even more. But at that time, there was so much confidence.”
With the world championship coming up, Gukesh has to defend his title against Javokhir Sindarov. The team is working hard to help him build his confidence.
