Countdown has begun to the 2024 Davis Cup Finals where Spanish legend Rafael Nadal is expected to play the last match of his colossal career.
The 22-time Grand Slam winner had announced that the 2024 Davis Cup Finals would be his last professional event, ending his tennis career spanning over two decades.
Nadal is part of the Spanish squad alongside Carlos Alcaraz, Roberto Bautista Agut, Pedro Martinez and Marcel Granollers. They will be led by non-playing captain David Ferrer.
Spain last won the Davis Cup trophy in 2019. Winning the title on home turf would be a befitting way for Nadal to bow out.
When will Rafael Nadal play in the 2024 Davis Cup Finals?
The Davis Cup Finals starts with the quarter-finals and is set to get underway on November 19 in Malaga.
Spain will face the Netherlands in the opening quarter-finals on an indoor hard court at the Palacio de Deportes Jose Maria Martin Carpena. It remains to be seen if Nadal will step on the court.
According to reports, Rafael Nadal is all set to play the opening singles match for Spain against the Netherlands on Tuesday.
Earlier it was speculated that Nadal would certainly play the doubles match pairing up with Carlos Alcaraz. Both had played together in doubles at the Paris Olympics this year.
The winners of this match will take on Germany or Canada in the semi-final, scheduled for November 22.
