Deepak Hooda comes under BCCI’s scanner after a social media post

The Anti-Corruption Unit of BCCI is keeping an eye on Punjab Kings batsman Deepak Hooda after his Tweet on Tuesday afternoon ahead of Punjab’s game against Rajasthan Royals.

Deepak Hooda, Punjab Kings batsman, has come under the scanner of the Anti-Corruption Unit of BCCI after a social media post ahead of the Rajasthan Royal game.

Rajasthan Royals won against Punjab Kings after Kartik Tyagi bowled a brilliant final over. The pacer gave away just a single run and took two wickets in the final over including the wicket of Deepak Hooda. Meanwhile, Punjab required just four runs of the final over and had eight wickets in hand.

Meanwhile, the player’s social media post has seemed to have come under the scanner of BCCI.

Punjab Kings batsman Deepak Hooda tweeted on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the Rajasthan Royals.

Subsequently, in the match, Deepak Hooda got out in the last over of the match for a duck.

He was caught behind by Samson off an outside edge. Meanwhile, Deepak Hooda’s social media post will be investigated by the ACU team to see if it breaches the anti-corruption guidelines.

An ACU official speaking to ANI said

“ACU will look into this post. Our restrictions are that there shall not be any talk about the composition of the team,” the official said. Hooda, around 2 pm, had posted a picture that shows him putting on the team helmet. He wrote: “Here we go @punjabkingsipl #pbksvsrr #ipl2021 #saddapunjab.”
The ACU official responded on how cricketers should react to messages on social media by saying,

“There is a guideline on the dos and don’ts.”

The Anti-Corruption Unit will further investigate the matter.

Ahead of the last IPL season in the UAE, former ACU chief Ajit Singh had warned that social media interactions of players are monitored.

Punjab Kings next faces Sunrisers Hyderabad on the 25th of September. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals takes on Delhi Capitals.
