England’s Highest T20I Totals? In an exhibition of power-hitting in ENG vs SA T20I, England shattered a series of records in their record-breaking second T20I against South Africa at Old Trafford. England posted a mammoth total of 304 for 2, which is their highest total ever in men’s T20Is and the third-highest ever in the history of the format.

England’s 304 for 2 against South Africa is now their highest total in T20 internationals. It is now the third highest total in men’s T20Is, behind Zimbabwe’s 344 for 4 against Gambia in 2024, and Nepal’s 314 for 3 against Mongolia in 2023. The total has replaced Somerset’s total of 265 for 5 (2022), as the highest-ever T20 total on English soil.

Phil Salt‘s Record-Breaking 141* – England’s New T20I Benchmark

Phil Salt created history with his scorching 141 not out during the second T20I, becoming England’s highest individual score in men’s T20Is. This also beats his previous highest of 119 against the West Indies in 2023. Salt’s 141* is also the seventh-highest T20I individual score and the highest-ever against South Africa in the format.

The boundaries scored by England were a record score. England scored 228 runs from boundaries, the third most in men’s T20I history. Zimbabwe hold the record with 282 boundary runs scored against Gambia. England scored a total of 48 boundaries which includes 18 sixes. This is the second most boundaries scored in a T20I innings after Zimbabwe’s 57 against Gambia.

Indeed, this 146-run margin is the third-largest margin of victory between two Full Member teams in men’s T20I history, following India’s victories of 168 and 150 runs over New Zealand and England, respectively.

Rabada’s 70 runs was, in fact, a new record for most runs conceded by a South African bowler in a T20I.
