When Erling Haaland first joined Manchester City F.C., there were questions about whether his style would translate perfectly to the Premier League. Four seasons later, those doubts feel almost laughable.

The Norwegian striker has turned goalscoring into a weekly routine in England and is now on track to win a third Premier League Golden Boot since arriving at Manchester City. Very few players in league history have adapted so quickly while maintaining such ridiculous consistency year after year.

Haaland’s first season in England still feels unreal when looking back at it. During the 2022/23 campaign, he scored 36 league goals and broke the Premier League single-season scoring record in the process. Defenders struggled to deal with his pace, physicality and movement, while Manchester City constantly found ways to put him in dangerous positions.

Even when teams sat deep or focused entirely on stopping him, Haaland still found space inside the penalty area. It almost felt inevitable that he would score at some point during every game.

The following season brought slightly lower numbers by his own standards, but 27 league goals in the 2023/24 campaign still underlined how dominant he remained. Injuries and squad rotation interrupted parts of the season, yet he continued to deliver in big moments and remained one of the league’s most feared forwards.

Erling Haaland Keeps Raising The Standard

By the time the 2024/25 season arrived, many believed Premier League defenders would finally have figured him out. Instead, Erling Haaland responded with another brilliant campaign, scoring 29 league goals and once again leading Manchester City’s attack.

What makes Erling Haaland so difficult to stop is that he rarely wastes chances. He does not need ten touches inside the box or endless dribbles to influence a game. One quick movement, one loose ball or one cross into the area is often enough for him to punish defenders instantly.

Now, in the ongoing 2025/26 season, Haaland has already reached 26 Premier League goals and remains the favourite to finish as the league’s top scorer again. If he completes the job, it would mean three Golden Boots in just four seasons in English football.

That kind of consistency is incredibly rare, especially in a league where even world-class strikers often struggle to maintain elite numbers over multiple years. Haaland, however, has made extraordinary goalscoring numbers feel completely normal.

At only 25 years old, the scary part for rival teams is that he still has plenty of time left at the top level. If he continues anywhere near this pace, Erling Haaland could eventually place himself among the greatest forwards the Premier League has ever seen.
