Everton records it’s first away win against Arsenal since 1996

Everton recorded a 1-0 win against Arsenal. Ancelotti becomes the first Everton Coach to win against Arsenal away since 1996.
Everton played Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in hope of a win. It was a big task for Carlo Ancelloti and men, as they have not done the same since 1996. Arsenal started with an unusual squad, as there was no Lacazette and Aubameyang in the front. Absence of their regular Left Back Kieran Tierney, led the Defensive midfielder Granit Xhaka fill that place.
Arsenal played in the 4-2-3-1 formation. Nketiah was the sole striker with Saka and Pepe on the wings. Everton also played the same formation but with all the first team players like Calvert Lewin, Richarlison, James Rodriguez and Gylfi Sigurðsson.
The game kicked off and Everton started to attack in a very compact manner. Lucas Digne in the 14th minute ran down the left flank and provided Calvert Lewin with an excellent cross in the box. Calvert Lewin headed the ball with power but missed the target narrowly. Everton kept on pressing and created another chance as Richarlison squeezed inside the box past Mari and hits the ball from 12 yard but was saved by Leno easily.
Thomas Partey fouled Richarlison in the 38th minute, just 25 yards away from the goal. Gylfi Sigurðsson took a beautiful free kick which went off the cross bar and Arsenal was saved again. It was Half – Time and the scoresheet was Arsenal 0-0 Everton. Arsenal controlled the possession in the first half but Everton was the one which created more chances.
Arsenal started making runs behind the Everton players in the 2nd half. 53 minutes in the game and Ceballos was fouled by Richarlison inside the penalty box. However, VAR checked and found Pepe was offside just by a fraction and Penalty was overturned. The VAR decision shocked the Arsenal coach and the players. Arteta displayed his disagreement on the pitch side but the game carried on.
Chambers had a great chance with Arsenal’s free kick in 64th minute but he volleyed the ball into the ground and missed. In the 76th minute Everton started a counter attack with Allan providing the ball to Richarlison. The Brazilian Forward ran past the by-line and provided a low cross which was meant for Calvert Lewin but something unexpected happened. The ball went straight through the hands of the Arsenal Goalkeeper who lost his concentration and gave away an own goal.
With this goal, Everton won it’s first game against Arsenal since 1996. Ancelotti and men now sit at 7th position with 53 points, just one point behind the reigning champions Liverpool.
