Everyone including the players are pretty much excited about the mega IPL auction that is about to happen in few days. After a long gap now there would be a war against the 10 teams for the best players and which player will lead which side. Remembering this the ex-IPL auctioneer Richard Madley talks about the bid that was made for Dhoni as he was a star batsman at that time and no surprise that every team wants him.

He recalls how Dhoni helped in triggering the bidding war for the first time saying, “Then came the man himself, the supreme all-rounder Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and there we saw the first of many bidding wars in the IPL auctions.” There was a bid between the greatest two sides in IPL i.e., Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians but Mumbai had already bought Sachin Tendulkar, so Chennai ensured they get Dhoni by paying $1.5 million. He even tried to recall that the other play that was taken out of bag was Shane Warne who can be considered as the most experienced spinners of all time and Rajasthan Royals bid the highest on him making sure that his guidance and experience will help in winning the title and their plan actually worked as they became the winning side.
