“Excitement Is Building”: BCCI shares a video of Team India’s flight journey to United Kingdom

For the first time, both men and women travelled in the same flight. India is on England’s tour

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) through its official Twitter handle shared India men’s & women’s journey to the United Kingdom. The video is of Team India’s entire flight journey from Mumbai to Southampton, United Kingdom.

In the video players were seen talking to each other, having breakfast after the long flight, revealing the schedule for the next few days. BCCI has allowed families of players to accompany them during these tough times of COVID-19.

BCCI titled the video “Excitement Is Building”. A video of two and a half minutes also included the bus drive from British airport to Aegeas Bowl, Southampton, where players are to undergo a three-day quarantine. Indians were already in 14-day quarantine in Mumbai before taking the flight to the UK on Wednesday, June 2.

Virat Kohli’s men are scheduled to play World Test Championship finals against New Zealand from June 18 to 22 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton. Followed by five-match Test series against hosts England starting from August 4, in Trent Bridge, Nottingham. The Test series is planned over August and September.

Mithali Raj’s women are scheduled to play England in a one-off Test, in Bristol from June 16-19. After which Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the women’s team for three ODIs and three T20Is.

In the video, cricketers Ishant Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Mohammed Siraj, Axar Patel, Mayank Agarwal, Poonam Yadav, Jemimah Rodrigues, Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami can be seen.
