The star pacer of India, Jasprit Bumrah, has finally concluded all the speculations about his participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup tournament in his recent tweet, that read, “I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team throughout their campaign in Australia.”
Earlier on Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially ruled out Bumrah for T20 World Cup 2022. Although the legendary cricketers, including Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid were positive about the star pacer’s comeback, the president of BCCI, Saurav Ganguly, clearly mentioned that they were waiting for the medical reports before drawing any conclusion.
The trail of injuries has proved to be a major setback for the Indian cricket team as Jasprit Bumrah becomes the second veteran player to miss out on the T20 World Cup tournament, after Ravindra Jadeja who underwent knee surgery and is currently recovering. Amidst the ongoing debate on the death overs, Bumrah’s withdrawal would definitely prove to be a major setback for the team.
Bumrah made a comeback during the second match of the T20 series against Australia in Nagpur after the bowling unit of India was exposed. After concluding the three-match series against Australia, Bumrah could not be a part of India’s playing XI in the opening match of the T20 series against South Africa in Thiruvananthapuram. The star pacer of India had complained of an intolerable lower back pain due to which he was immediately ruled out from the T20 series against South Africa.
The chances of Bumrah’s participation in the T20 World Cup were dangling by a thread. There were many speculations about his withdrawal from the WC tournament due to his injured back. The suspense around his comeback grew after Sunil Gavaskar and Saurav Ganguly refused to rule out Bumrah from the T20 World Cup.
However, all the scuttlebutt came to an end on Monday after The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially ruled-out Jasprit Bumrah from the international cricket tournament. The announcement came as a major shock to the supporters who had previously dealt with Ravindra Jadeja’s withdrawal from the tournament.
