The Indian Premier League is about to start on March 22, and the teams are ready for the tournament. The Lucknow Super Giants have made some changes, including appointing Rishabh Pant as the new captain after releasing KL Rahul.
Heartwarming Fan Moment: Zaheer Khan Recreates a 20-Year-Old Memory
The Super Giants also have some big names in their management, including 2011 World Cup winner Zaheer Khan, who has been appointed as the team’s mentor. Zaheer arrived at the hotel, where he was welcomed by staff and fans. One fan was seen holding a sign showing her love for Zaheer and blushing when the camera caught her.
A video of a girl holding a sign during an India vs Pakistan match about 20 years ago has become very popular online. The video on social media compared the 2005 match with a recent clip, where the same fan welcomed the 46-year-old former cricketer, Zaheer Khan, with a sign reading “Zaheer, I Love You.”
The cricketer was amazed by the moment and smiled charmingly as he saw the fan recreate that heartwarming memory.

Zaheer Khan replaced Gautam Gambhir as the mentor of LSG
Zaheer Khan replaced Gautam Gambhir as the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Gambhir left LSG to join Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for IPL 2024. After leading KKR to their third IPL title, the former India cricketer became the head coach of India. Zaheer will also be the bowling coach for LSG. “If I am there in the set-up, does the team need another bowling coach?” Zaheer had said.
After joining LSG, Zaheer praised the team for their consistent performances in recent years and expressed confidence that they would do well in IPL 2025.
“LSG are a relatively young franchise in IPL, but it has not been looked upon like that, the building blocks are pretty much in place,” Zaheer said at the media interaction at the RPSG Group Headquarters here.
“They have made a lot of progress. The consistency with reaching playoffs, which is so tough in this fiercely-contested competition, is something that gives me a lot of confidence when I’m looking at coming and contributing to the franchise’s success.”
Zaheer to work with a young pace bowling attack
Zaheer Khan will work with the young pace bowling attack of the Lucknow Super Giants. The team has some promising fast bowlers, and it will be interesting to see how the former India star helps manage them. The pace attack will likely be led by Avesh Khan, who will be aiming for strong performances to make a comeback to the Indian team.
Youngsters like Shamar Joseph, Mohsin Khan, and Akash Singh will also be eager to learn from the former left-arm pacer. Along with guiding the young bowlers, Zaheer Khan will be looking to help Lucknow win their first-ever title.
