Rohit back in form
Away from the off-field buzz, Rohit has been in excellent touch for Mumbai Indians during the 2026 IPL season. The veteran opener smashed a fiery 84 from just 44 deliveries against Lucknow Super Giants, guiding MI to a remarkable chase of 229 with eight balls remaining. After the match, MI opener Ryan Rickelton spoke highly of batting alongside Rohit.
“One of Mumbai’s greatest and one of India’s greatest players. I’ve really enjoyed batting with him. The Wankhede pitches have been excellent, and we’ve complemented each other well, putting pressure on bowlers and building partnerships,” Rickelton said.
Mumbai Indians have long way to Go
Despite that memorable win, Mumbai Indians are still going through a challenging season. The five-time champions have suffered seven defeats in their first 10 matches, leaving their playoff chances hanging by a thread. However, the victory over LSG could give them much-needed momentum ahead of their upcoming encounter against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Saturday.
