The FIBA European Basketball Championship, widely known as EuroBasket, returns for a new edition which will be kick-off on Wednesday, 27 August.
This will be the 42nd edition of the one of the most coveted international basketball tournaments.
The FIBA EuroBasket 2025 will be held across four countries- Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia-bringing together Europe’s top talent and a slew of NBA stars for two weeks of world-class action.
FIBA EuroBasket 2025: Format
EuroBasket 2025 features 24 national teams, split into four groups of six for the group phase. Each team plays every other team in their group once in a single round robin format. The top four teams from each group at the end of the league stage will advance to the knockout stage.
The knockout phase begins with the Round of 16, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals, and medal games, including the final and third-place game.
Teams that don’t advance to the medal rounds still play in classification games to determine final standings from 5th to 24th place at FIBA EuroBasket.
