FIFA postpones African World Cup Qualifiers
FIFA suspends African qualifiers due to a lack of proper arrangements.
African qualifiers for the 2022 Qatar World Cup have been postponed by FIFA citing rising Covid Cases.
The qualifiers that were earlier planned to be conducted in June, have now been shifted to September.
An investigation into the matter led to the discovery that over 20 of the World Cup participating teams do not have adequate stadiums for the matches to be conducted.
Those organizations were approached to propose substitution settings in nonpartisan nations which would add to travel amid the Covid pandemic.
As a result, FIFA’s advisory committee voted on suspending the qualifiers to give time to participating nations to make arrangements and establish Covid-19 guidelines to prevent a possible spread of infection.
The meeting was presided over by Gianni Infantino, FIFA president.
