• Marc-Vivien Foe (1975-2003)

• Peter Biaksangzuala

Although Biaksangzuala was immediately rushed to the hospital, the defensive midfielder lost his life on October 19, 2014, while playing on the field at the young age of 23. Peter Biaksangzuala’s death was mourned by Bethlehem Vengthlang FC and his jersey no. “21” was also retired as a tribute.

• Cristian Gomez 

Former Argentine football player Cristian Gomez, who played as a defender for Atletico Parana, Sportivo Patria, Deportivo Armenio, and 9 de Julio de Rafaela, was considered to be one of the most valuable players for the squads that he played for throughout his dynamic football career. Although Cristian Gomez was anticipated by his fans to be the “next big thing” in the world of football, his destiny had some other plans. While playing a friendly football match for Atletico Parana, Cristian Gomez collapsed on the field and passed away after suffering a major heart attack. • Philip O’ Donnell

Philip O’Donnell was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital right after collapsing on the field, where he received treatment; however, the iconic football player couldn’t battle the excruciating pain and breathed his last a few minutes later. 

• Cristiano Junior 

Brazilian professional football player Cristiano Junior played as a forward for numerous clubs, including Olaria, Vasco da Gama, Brasilia, and Dempo, and was considered one of the most talented and highest-paid football players of his era. The Federation Cup Finals brought a terrible fate for the iconic footballer, as in the 78th minute of the finals he witnessed a brutal collision with the goalie of Mohun Began, Subrata Pal, while scoring his second goal. Junior’s collision with the goalie was so brutal that he lost control and collapsed on the field just a few seconds after the dreadful collision. Cristiano Junior was rushed to the hospital in an unconscious state and was declared dead on arrival. The autopsy reports later revealed that Cristiano Junior suffered a major heart attack on the field, due to which he lost his life.
