Former Australian Test captain and wicketkeeper, Tim Paine, is set to contribute his expertise as an Assistant Coach for the Adelaide Strikers in the upcoming season of the Big Bash League (BBL13).
Paine’s involvement as an Assistant Coach doesn’t end with the Strikers, as he was also recently appointed as an Assistant Coach for Australia A ahead of their series against New Zealand A, scheduled to commence next week.
Having recently retired from First-Class cricket, Tim Paine boasts an extensive career spanning over 18 years and more than 400 professional games. His wealth of experience makes him one of the most seasoned figures in Australian cricket.
Expressing excitement over Paine’s addition, Strikers General Manager of Cricket, Tim Nielsen, emphasized the value he will bring to the team during the upcoming season.
“Tim’s inclusion in our team is highly beneficial, and his presence will contribute significantly in numerous aspects this season. With his impressive skills as a keeper and Test-level batter, Tim’s insights will be invaluable to our players, both on the field and with their batting. His ability to provide precise and constructive feedback is exceptional, and we are eagerly looking forward to his involvement in Adelaide,” said Nielsen.
During his cricketing career, Tim Paine captained the Australian team in 23 out of his 35 Test matches. Additionally, he represented the Hobart Hurricanes on 44 occasions, amassing more than 1100 runs, including 140 boundaries, with a top score of 91.
Jason Gillespie, the Head Coach of Adelaide Strikers, expressed his delight at having Tim Paine join the coaching staff.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tim Paine to our coaching team. Tim possesses all the qualities necessary to excel as a coach, and his decision to join the Strikers is a significant boost as we aim for success this season. His wealth of experience is bound to provide our players with guidance across all facets of the game and further enhance our team’s approach,” said Gillespie.
Tim Paine’s role as Assistant Coach for the Adelaide Strikers is anticipated to be a pivotal factor in shaping the team’s performance and strategies for the upcoming BBL13 season.
