French Open 2026 has given wild-card entries to three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka and French veteran Gael Monfils which will be their final appearances at Roland Garros before retirement later this year. Wawrinka famously lifted the French Open trophy in 2015 after defeating Novak Djokovic in the final, while Monfils enjoyed a memorable run to the semifinals in Paris back in 2008. Both players are set to receive special tributes following their last matches at the tournament.
Apart from Wawrinka and Monfils, the French Open also handed singles wild-card entries to rising and established players including Nishesh Basavareddy, Titouan Droguet, Hugo Gaston, Arthur Gea, Moise Kouame and Adam Walton.

Stan Wawrinka climbed to a career-high ranking of World No. 3, he has been known for performing in biggest matches. The Swiss star defeated both Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic during his Grand Slam-winning runs, which includes his memorable 2015 French Open triumph over Djokovic. He also beat Nadal to clinch the 2014 Australian Open crown before overcoming Djokovic again to win the 2016 US Open title. Beyond singles success, Wawrinka partnered Roger Federer to win Olympic doubles gold for Switzerland in 2008 and later helped the nation secure the 2014 Davis Cup title.
As for Gael Monfils, his second Grand Slam semifinal appearance came at the 2016 US Open. The Frenchman also made history in 2025 by becoming the oldest ATP Tour title winner after lifting his 13th career trophy in Auckland at the age of 39.
Belgian veteran David Goffin did not receive wild-card entry
Meanwhile, Belgian veteran David Goffin, who also confirmed that the 2026 season will be his last, was not handed a wild-card entry for the French Open. Goffin enjoyed a successful career that included six ATP titles and quarterfinal appearances at the French Open, Wimbledon and the Australian Open.
No Carlos Alcaraz at French Open 2026
Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz has made himself unavailable for the French Open 2026 due to an injury.
“After the results of the tests carried out today, we have decided that the most prudent thing to do is to be cautious and not participate in Rome or Roland Garros as we wait to evaluate the progress so we can decide when to return to the court. This is a difficult time for me, but I am sure we will come out of it stronger.” Alcaraz said
