In 1979, the organisation changed its name to the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), and in 1983, it ceased to be affiliated with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). The title was also changed to reflect the changes. After the WWF acquired World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 2001, it was combined with the World Championship.

The List of Current Champions

Roman Reigns – WWE Championship

He won a Winner Takes All match against Brock Lesnar at Wrestle Mania 38 Night 2 in which Reigns was defending the SmackDown Universal Championship. Reigns is regarded as the undisputed WWE Universal Champion thanks to both titles. Know more about him this year. Anoa’i began his professional football career in 2007 with short off-season stints with the National Football League (NFL Minnesota)’s Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars after playing collegiate football for Georgia Tech. Before being released and giving up football in 2008, he played a complete season with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Bianca Belair – RAW Women’s Championship

Becky Lynch was defeated on Wrestle Mania 38 Night 1. Belair, a former track and field athlete, debuted in professional wrestling in NXT, where she often contended for the NXT Women’s Championship. She became the second African American superstar, behind The Rock, to win a Royal Rumble match after winning the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble match after being selected by SmackDown. At Wrestle Mania 37, she successfully challenged Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in a match that marked the second time women headlined the event.

Ronda Rousey – Smackdown’s Women’s Championship

Won an Extreme Rules battle against Liv Morgan at Extreme Rules. Currently, under contract with WWE, she competes on the SmackDown brand and is in the midst of her second reign as the division’s women’s champion. Her involvement in the Ultimate Fighting Championship is what made her most famous (UFC).

She received the enduring moniker “Rowdy” from professional wrestler Roddy Piper. Having won bronze in judo at the 2008 Summer Olympics, Rousey became the first American woman to accomplish so. In 2011, she started her mixed martial arts (MMA) career with King of the Cage. As soon as Strikeforce was acquired by UFC, she entered and quickly rose to the position of last women’s bantamweight champion there.

Despite being advertised as a unification match, Reigns is still referred to as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and both championships are still in play.
