Get Ready for the Women’s Cricket Commonwealth Games
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member cricket team led by Harmanpreet Kaur. Smriti Mandhana was picked as the vice-captain. The team will play as follows:
The women’s cricket is set to launch at the commonwealth games 2022 from July 29th to August 7th in Birmingham, England. The action will come live from the Warwickshire’s cricket club home ground, Edgbaston Cricket Ground. The cricket game will be played in a T20 format, featuring eight nations battling for the top positions. India is in Group A with Australia, Pakistan, and Barbados. Group B will feature New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.
England, the hosts, were given a direct qualification, plus the top six ranked teams made a direct cut to the games. The best two teams from these groups will proceed to the semi-finals, with India scheduled to participate in three games in the tournament’s league stage. In a qualifier played in Malaysia, Sri Lanka gave Bangladesh a run for their money to secure the eighth spot at the commonwealth games.
