2025 Women’s Nations League: How Does It Work, Key Dates

UEFA Women’s Nations League is back for its second edition and will see some of the best national teams in European women’s football battle out for the championship title.

The results of the tournament will have an impact on the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the qualification process.

The 2025 Women’s Nations League tournament begins in February 2025 and runs through until June of the same year.

The finals will take place From October to December 2025, along with promotion and relegation play-offs.

2025 Women’s Nations League: Format

In the 2025 Women’s Nations League, 53 Nations have been divided into three leagues: A, B, and C.

Leagues A and B consist of 16 sides each, divided into four groups of four. The remaining 21 teams are bracketed in League C, with groups of either three and four sides.

Each team in their respective group will play each other twice – home and away.

Four group winners in league A will progress to the finals, which are made up of two semi-finals, a third-place play-off, and the final, all played over two legs.

Group winners in Leagues B and C, meanwhile, are automatically promoted. Fourth-placed sides in A and B will be relegated to the league below.

Teams finishing second in Leagues B and C will get a chance for promotion through play-offs, while those who finish third in A and B will have play-offs to avoid relegation.
