Hansi Flick and Barcelona have been the greatest story of football this season and will now be going to extend his contract with the Catalans till 2027 according to Fabrizio Romano.
Hansi Flick and Barcelona have been the greatest story of football this season
Everybody knows what Hansi Flick is capable of and he has continued to demonstrate this term as well with Barcelona, 3 trophies in the debut season with limited sources, financial constraint and injuries to first team players. No problem for Flick as he has found the gold mine in La Masia, the prodigy Barca academy.
La Masia has continued to produce world-class talents
La Masia has continued to produce world-class talents and Flick has used the academy to his advantage. At the start of the season, there was no Frenkie De Jong to play at the 6 and there was no one else who could play in the team.
Flick brought Marc Bernal from the la Masia ranks and started the pre-season with him but unfortunately he suffered an ACL and was ruled out for the season.
Hansi Flick made sure that Casado was the anchor
Marc Casado, another academy product, grabbed the chase with both hands and was successful in playing almost half season until Frenkie de Jong was fit and back. The replacements did not mean that they let the team down or were downgrades, Hansi Flick made sure that Casado was the anchor of the midfield and also converted Pedri into an 8, so that the double pivot of Casado and Pedri were impenetrable.
Hansi Flick has been truly a revelation for Barcelona as until last season they were struggling to keep up with the elite teams but the German made them the best on the ball team in the entire Europe.
Hansi Flick will stay at the club till 2027
Now that they have won the La Liga, it is now only a matter of time to announce Hansi Flick’s official contract extension announcement. Hansi Flick will stay at the club till 2027.
As exciting, this will be an interesting year to see Hansi Flick’s approach with the second season at Barcelona. During his tenure at Bayern Munich, he was great in the first season as they completed a Sextuple that season but the next season major team members got injured due to the high intensity that Flick’s football requires and ended up with a disappointing season which also meant he got sacked.
It will be interesting to know that he can carry the form into the next season and it will be a big question mark can his players keep up with the intensity of the football.
