Harmanpreet Kaur is still not fit, will miss second ODI against Australia
The right-handed Indian batter Harmanpreet Kaur has suffered a thumb injury before the 1st ODI against the Aussie and is still recovering.
The Indian Vice-Captain Harmanpreet Kaur will not walk out in the field tomorrow for the second One Day International against Australia as she is yet to recover from the thumb injury.
The news was confirmed by the India Women batting coach, Shiv Sunder Das during the virtual press conference ahead of the 2nd ODI between Australia and India. “Right now, she is not fit and is not available for the next game,” said Shiv Sunder Das while giving an update on Harmanpreet Kaur’s fitness.
However, India had lost the first ODI against Australia on Tuesday, 21st September by 9 Wickets. Having to put bat first India only managed 225/8 runs on board, which was easily chased down by the Aussie. As a result, the Aussie won 2 Points and are in a 1-0 lead in the 3 Match ODI Series.
In the press conference, batting coach Shiv Sunder Das also addressed India Women Team’s batting performance concern. “We are looking at the top-order to give us a good start. For the middle order we have worked hard, have some plans. I think they will exhibit it in tomorrow’s game,” said Das.
“In the middle overs, the running between the wickets is an area we are still working on. It’s a work in process, we have a few young batters in the side, we have to give them some time and once they get used to the conditions, they will fire,” Shiv Sunder Das added.
Australia vs India 2nd ODI will take place Tomorrow on 24th September, Friday at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay. The visitors will look to level the series. Meanwhile, for Australia, Rachael Haynes suffered an injury during a training session.
