IPL 2025: Harpreet Brar Gave a Stylish Send-Off for Riyan Parag

Punjab Kings (PBKS) spinner Harpreet Brar is bowling brilliantly in the current IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Brought on as an impact substitute, Brar has quickly turned the game in PBKS’s favor. Rajasthan’s openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, had been scoring freely and putting Punjab under heavy pressure, but Brar’s spell has slowed them down.
Harpreet Brar Gave A Stylish Send-Off To Riyan Parag
Harpreet Brar turned the match around for PBKS. The left-arm spinner first dismissed both Rajasthan openers, then bowled Riyan Parag with a fast, skidding ball in the 14th over that clipped leg stump.
After taking Parag’s wicket, Brar celebrated with a thigh-slap, and teammate Arshdeep Singh joined in for an even bigger celebration.
Arshdeep handed Brar his sunglasses, and Brar struck a stylish pose. The video of the same has gone viral on the internet, watch it here:

Harpreet Brar’s Game-Changing Spell
Riyan Parag managed only 13 runs from 11 balls (one six, strike-rate 119) before Brar bowled him. While other bowlers suffered, Harpreet Brar shone, taking 3 wickets for just 22 in his 4 overs-a spell that put RR on the back foot for good.
Despite Dhruv Jurel’s fighting 53\*, RR kept losing wickets and finished on 209-7, ten runs short.
After the match, Harpreet Brar dedicated his Player Of The Match Award To His Wife
During the post-match presentation ceremony, Harpreet Brar dedicated his Player of the Match award to his wife in a heartfelt gesture.
He also shared his conversations with head coach Ricky Ponting, who had told him that a left-handed bowler can often dismiss a left-handed batter. Brar said:
“I am feeling really good. I would like to dedicate this award to my wife as it is my first after marriage. We practice a lot against the left-handers, Ponting Sir has told us that a leftie can get a leftie out. I have worked on that, I knew they would come after me but I backed to bowl to my strengths.”
Brar went on to explain his simple yet effective game plan, emphasizing his strategy of keeping the RR batters from hitting boundaries. He said:
“The way the wicket was playing and they were batting, the plan was to not give a boundary or give them easy balls.”
He also credited PBKS’ spin-bowling coach, Sunil Joshi, for helping him improve his game. Brar mentioned:
“I have been with Sunil (Joshi) Sir for a long time, I have learned a lot, he’s taught me how to use the crease, how to read the batter and the wicket.”
Finally, Brar expressed his excitement about bowling alongside star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for Punjab Kings. He said:
“After Chahal’s arrival I thought it would be easy to bowl with him, I didn’t get an opportunity at the start but cricket is a funny game, I always thought once I get an opportunity I will grab it.”
Meanwhile, the win lifts PBKS to second place with 17 points, putting them on the brink of the playoffs and eyeing a top-two finish.
Rajasthan Royals kept losing wickets regularly, even though Dhruv Jurel played very well and scored 53 runs. He fought alone for his team, hitting a crucial half-century lower down the order. But despite his efforts, the team only managed to score 209 runs for seven wickets and lost the match by 10 runs.
With this win, Punjab Kings moved up to second place on the points table with 17 points. They are now close to making it to the playoffs and will be aiming to finish in the top two.
